A real life "bad run" comes to an end...

Well, at least lets hope so. After having a 2 year old cousin die and dealing with our 2nd miscarriage in a year, all within the space a week, things might be turning the corner. I've went a solid week with no massive catastrophy...hot dang.

Real life just sucks sometimes.

On the poker front, I'm killing the 1/2 6-handed tables at Empire, 7 Card Stud, when I actually have time to play. Each one hour session I've played has been a good +15 BB's, which is way over the average I would expect...

On the bright side in real life, I'm more indebted than ever to our online community at www.poker-strategy.org . 7 or 8 of our regular members dug into their bankrolls and sprung for a brand new Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop for me. Not exactly sure what I did to deserve such thoughtfulness. I was stunned not only that they did it, but that they (including my wife) could keep a secret for a week or 2 :)

We're not pro's; our forum is filled with low and middle limit recreational players, albeit profitable recreational players. You won't find as many posts explaining the use of game theory in making or calling bluffs, as you might in other poker strategy forums. I can also guarantee you won't find another poker forum with members who genuinely care about each others well being, poker and beyond like PSORG'ers do.

Props to the PSORG folks. They've turned a list of forums that Bryan and I created, into a truly priceless community.

Thanks for the thoughts, prayers and a butt kickin' laptop!

Empire Update

Finally got around to depositing enough to play the 1/2 tables at Empire, and am enjoying myself thus far. The .5/1 tables are pretty much pointless to play in my opinion, as the rediculous ante structure make it so every fish is playing somewhat correctly by playing any 3 cards dealt to them. Inside straight draws have correct pot odds, etc.

I'm making a point to not rob the bankrolls. Between Leslie (my wife) and I we've got around $1600 split between three sites. Generally we would have made several withdrawals, keeping our totals under $600. My goal now is to keep enough in there to go from 1/2 to 2/4 and eventually 3/6 by years end. This will be a challenge, because I want to have enough of a bankroll to accomplish this for at least two sites, possibly 3. I'll prefer about $1800 at each to play 3/6 comfortably.

The sites I'm looking to have at this level are Absolute, Empire and Royal Vegas. Absolute is a cash cow, with reloads weekly, so I would be a dip not to take advantage of that. Empire is massively lucrative just because of the thousands of fools who deposit and play without even taking the time to learn the hand ranks. I'm quite fond of the 6 max tables as well...cuts down on the suckouts and rewards aggressive play. Finally, I want $1800 on Royal Vegas as well. Their loyalty bonus jumped to $40,000 split between the top 1500 players, and I used to be a perpetual top 100 there. Those bonuses were nice :)

Final thought, and I may make a new entry later on this. If you are married and haven't got your spouse involved in Online Poker, now would be a good time. Leslie's never read a poker book, but thanks to my endless boring chatter about 7 Card Stud strategy, she has turned a nice profit over the past 1 1/2 years, playing limits from .5/1 to 2/4 herself.

With 2 players solid players in the household, the bonuses and profit we'll make will double this year if we put our minds to it.
